Together We Can Reverse What Corporate Greed Has Done to Our Nation.
United We Bargain, Alone We Beg

United We Bargain, Alone We Beg

We are living in a time of corporate greed not seen since the early 20th century. As the cost-of-living rises, working-class people across the country are finding themselves working longer hours for less pay. The Gig Economy is expected to bring in $455 billion in 2023, while the average Gig Worker’s salary is only $29,050 (a favorable statistic, as the top 10% of Gig Workers make more than the bottom 75%). 58% of Gig Workers find themselves working over 40 hours a week for low pay, no benefits, and zero protections from the law due to corporate maneuvering of the tax/employment system. They classify us as independent contractors to reap the rewards of zero accountability to those creating their profits while we, those doing the work, do not get to set our standard for compensation as all other independent contractors in this country do. We’ve had our pay cut, our accounts deactivated with no avenue for recourse, and have been left to sit in our vehicles staring at dead screens wondering if we will make next month’s rent or feed our children.
There is hope, but it lies with each other. There is a massive and growingwave of working-class people fighting for their rights in America. Railroad Workers, Teamsters, Writers Guild/SAG, Auto Workers, employees of Starbucks and Amazon, have made and are making nation-wide progress to organize. To fight for what they know they deserve as the backbone of this country. It is now our time. We Gig Workers have a special place in this broader fight for the rights of working-class people. It is projected Gig Workers will number 86.5 million people by 2027, comprising 50.9% of the workforce in the United States. We have been uniquely affected by the evolution of technology in the economy. Fired by computer code, wages cut with no notification and this all with zero transparency under the guise of intellectual property. If we let these corporations get away with this now, there is no telling what further advancement in technology into our economy brings for the working class. As many of us are doing today with our predecessors, if we do not act nowfuture generations will look back at us and ask, “How did you let this happen?” This is our purpose. To fight for what we know we deserve, so that we can protect not only ourselves, but those that come after us.

“My friends it is solidarity we want. We do not want to find fault with each other, but to solidify our forces and say to each other: We must be together; our masters are joined together, and we must do the same thing.”
